New Project, New Day
With Love, Buford
Despite the fact that I already have a lot of projects and writing and things, I have started a new Substack, and I wanted to tell you about it. It’s called With Love, Buford, and here’s the gist. I have a bunch of letters (9 boxes!) that my great-uncle Buford wrote my great-aunt Anna Mae during WWII. These were gifted to me by my cousin Mike, and they have been gathering dust. But I want to read them, and also do something with them where they will not gather dust in my little condo.
So I’ll be posting them, about once a week, in the closest thing to chronological order than I can manage. And I will try to write a little bit about them, or the people in them, as much as I am able to with my limited knowledge. Some letters, which might be personal, or snarky, will be behind a paywall, so if you want to see them, you’ll need to be a paid subscriber. This gives me a bit for coffee to fuel me, and also adds a layer of privacy protection. But make no mistake, there will be plenty of free posts!
If this sounds interesting, you can check it out here: With Love, Buford.
And if it doesn’t sound interesting, then you should know that after posting my first letter I found out that Buford originally was seeing my grandmother, THEN started seeing her sister Anna Mae instead. Sacrebleu! Who knows what tidbits will come out next!
And if you’re still not interested, you are always welcome here, where I will probably post about writing, or running, or my water heater, or who knows what next.
Stay tuned!
